CourcyInt Services

Courcy’s Intelligence Service was founded in London in 1934 by the brothers John and Kenneth de Courcy to provide early warning intelligence to British and American businesses and government officials in the turbulent years leading up to World War II.

Initially, Courcy’s Intelligence Service provided a private briefing service only, but in December 1938 it launched a monthly subscription-only newsletter called Intelligence Digest.  This is now the weekly Courcy’s Intelligence Brief.

Courcy’s Intelligence Service has a remarkable track record of forecasting the major trends and of genuine intelligence coups, including:

- Throughout the 1930s, Courcy’s Intelligence Service was among the few to discern the true danger of Hitler’s Germany.  Even more impressively, it was alone in forecasting that in the event of war, France would collapse and make a separate peace.

- Throughout the 1940s, Courcy’s Intelligence Service provided some of the very best intelligence on the developing Soviet threat, including being the first publication anywhere in the world to report on the first Soviet atomic test.

- Courcy’s Intelligence Service remained the leading source on the Soviet threat, and then its decline, right through until the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.

- More recently, Courcy’s Intelligence Service has become one of the world’s leading sources on Islamist terrorism and on the dangerous and shifting politics of the Middle East.

Courcy’s Intelligence Service is headed by JKC de Courcy, son of the founder Kenneth and nephew of John.  He has been involved in global political analysis since graduating from Oriel College, Oxford, in 1977.  In the 1990s, he founded Terrorism & Security Monitor and Islamic Affairs Analyst, both now owned by the Jane’s Information Group.  From 2004-2010, JKC de Courcy was commissioned by the UK’s Health Protection Agency to develop an early-warning service for emerging health threats, with a particular emphasis on chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats.  He is now Chief Executive of Intelligence Research Ltd.
